Security Systems and Plans
Comcast offers 3 essential home security plans, the Basic, Preferred and Premier. As you might guess, all of these are wireless systems rather than using a landline. Since internet can be problematic, each system has a digital cellular backup. Here’s an overview of the XFinity by Comcast Home Security packages along with security system prices.
XFinity Basic Home Security: 24-hour home alarm monitoring is included. The plan offers cellular backup, email and text alerts when home alarms are triggered and minimal web portal access that only allows you to arm/disarm the system.
The equipment package includes 1 wireless keypad, 2 window/door sensors and 1 motion detector. That’s about average for packages in this price range, though some will have 3 sensors. The installation fee is $199 and the monthly fee is $29.99 per month.
XFinity Preferred Home Security: The upgrades from the Basic plan include complete programing of the system via the web, fire monitoring, touchscreen functionality and home automation of lights, locks, sound system, HVAC and more.
There are 4 door/window sensors in this package instead of 2, and a keychain remote is included. The installment fee is $199 and the monthly home alarm monitoring cost is $39.95 per month.
XFinity Premier Home Security: The upgrades are the same as the Preferred. What’s different is the equipment included. For the higher security system prices, you get all the features of the Preferred package along with 2 appliance/lighting controllers for home automation, 1 integrated thermostat for automating indoor climate control from a remote location and 1 indoor/outdoor camera.
As for equipment warranty, the Premier Package includes a full warranty. For the other 2 plans, warranty coverage is available for $4.95 per month.
